1. LESSON OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson you will practice:

  • reading for detail and specific information

  • listening for specific information

  • searching, analyzing and organizing information from the Internet

  • speaking on environmental issue

2. DOWNLOADING MATERIALS FOR LISTENING

3. LISTENING FOR GIST

  1. Do the Preparation task first. Read the following statement:
    Facts about the state of the global environment read like quotes on a poster for an epic Hollywood movie. However, many people feel that governments are not taking the environment seriously enough.

Do you agree or disagree with it? (Write down your answer in Task 1, Handout.)

  1. Listen to the audio text and check whether the people described share your opinion.


4. READING FOR DETAIL

6. SPEAKING

1. In pairs, groups or individually get ready to give a short talk (10-12 sentences) on the issue: The human race has caused these problems and we are going to have to work together to solve them.

You may use the plan to organize your speech.

Plan:

  • State the problem

  • Give arguments and examples

  • Suggest solutions

  • Say how your family can solve the problem
