With lots of love for you

And since you’ve very special

Here are hugs and kisses, too!

Girl: It’s lovely to meet you here, at Valentine’s party!

So please, love me do,

Girl : It’s here again the day, when boys and girls, sweetheart and lovers, husbands and wives, friends and neighbours, and even office staff will exchange greetings of affection undying love or satirical comments.

Boy: St. Valentine’s Day, February 14, has been a customary day for choosing sweethearts and exchanging valentines.

Girl: The method of choosing sweethearts of St. Valentine’s Day varied in different times and places. It could be a serious matter leading to marriage, or it could be a kind of game. Counties generations of young people have acknowledged St. Valentine as the friend and patron of lovers.

Boy: What kind of holiday is St. Valentine’s Day?

Girl: St. Valentine’s Day is a religious holiday, which is celebrated in Great Britain, in many European countries and in the USA.

Boy: One of the early symbols of love is Cupid, the Roman God of love, who is represented as a young boy with a bow and arrow.

Звучит музыка, появляется священник.

Voice: Valentine was a Christian priest in the Roman Empire 300 years after the death of Jesus Christ.

Boy: My sweetheart, look! I can’t believe it. Is it St. Valentine himself?!

Girl: You are welcome, patron of lovers.

The Priest: My children! I’ve come from the distant past, to remind you of kindness and love friendship and patience in your wicked world.

Boy: Do please take us back to the 1st century when the Roman Emperor Claudius II ruled our country.

The Priest: All right! I see you love each others and your dreams come true!

Свет выключается, голос:

This is the legend of how St. Valentine’s Day began. When the Roman Emperor Claudius II needed soldiers, he made a law against marrying because he felt that marriage made men want to stay at home instead of fighting wars. But at that time there was a kind priest named Valentine. He couldn’t agree with the emperor’s decision. When he saw that young couples were truly in love, he married them secretly.”

Сценка: выходят девушка и юноша. Они падают на колени и жестами умоляют священника совершить обряд бракосочетания. Священник выполняет их просьбу.

The Priest: My daughter! My son! I declare you – husband and wife!

Звучит марш Мендельсона. Врывается стража.

Soldier 1: Priest, you have been discovered and condemned to death!

Soldier 2: To prison! To the Tower!

Ann: Dear friends! St. Valentine’s Day is a wonderful holiday! In the street there is freezing rain, and slush and sleet. The wind is fierce. The skies are grey. I don’t think I’ll go out today.

But here inside the weather’s warm.

There is no trace of wind or storm.

And you just made the morning shine

You said you’d be my Valentine.

Polly: St. Valentine’s Day has become customary in Russia. Everybody looks forward to it with great anticipation. It’s the day of sending valentines, the day of confessing in love. It’s nice to meet you at our Valentine’s party.

Сценка 1 ( Ben,Betty)

Pupil 1: Your heart is like a treasure,

A source of wealth to keep,

Impossible to measure

Unfathomably deep.

Pupil 2: Your love is like the ocean

That reaches deep inside,

My heart sweet with emotion

And I can’t stem the tide.

Pupil 3: I’ll love you dear, I’ll love you

Till China and Africa meet

And rivers jump over the mountain

And the salmon sings in the street.

I’ll love you till the ocean.

Pupil 4: You are my sunshine,

My only sunshine.

You make me happy, when skies are gray.

You’ll never know, dear

How much I love you;

Please, don’t make my sunshine away.

My love for you is

As high as a mountain

And as deep as the sea!

Be my Valentine!

Pupil 5: Roses are red

Violets are blue

Sugar is sweet

And so are you.

Polly: St.Valentine’s Day is a day of choosing sweethearts and the method of choosing sweethearts varied in different times and places. It could be a serious matter leading to marriage, or it could be a kind of a game.

Cценка 3 в исполнении уч-ся 11а класса.(Ann, Mike)

Pupil: Let me call you sweetheart,

I’m in love with you

Let me hear with you,

That you love me, too.

Keep the love light glowing

I see your eyes so true,

Let me call you sweetheart

I’m in love with you.

Танец-композиция в исполнении уч-ся 11б класса.

Ann: On this day we get many Valentines

Our classroom has a mailbox.

That we painted red and gold

We stuffed it with more Valentine,

Than it was made to hold.

When we opened it this morning,

I was nervous as could be.

I wondered if a single one

Had been addressed to me,

But when they’d been delivered,

I felt twenty stories tall,

I couldn’t hold them all.

I liked some of them.

Pupil: I love you more than applesauce

Than peaches and a plum,

Than chocolate hearts,

And cherry tarts,

And cherry-bubble-gum.

I love you more than lemonade,

And seven layer cake.

Than lollipops

And candy drops,

And thick vanilla shake.

Friends care,

Friends share,

We need friends everywhere!

Make new friends

But keep the old

One is silver, the other – gold

Be my Valentine.

Сценка4 в исполнении уч-ся 11б класса.

Polly: Now I will tell you about one of the ways how the English girls get to know their fortunes on St. Valentine’s Eve. They take an apple, cut it into four parts, count the seeds from the apple and find the fortune in the poem.

One – I love

Two – I love

Three – I love, I say

Four – I love with all my heart,

Five – I cast away.

Six – he loves,

Seven- she loves,

Eight- they both love,

Nine – he comes,

Ten- he tarries,

Eleven – he courts,

Twelve – he marries.

Ann: And now I want you to listen to one more poem “The cap and the bells”

Polly: Now to widen your scope we’ll ask you some questions.

1. When is St.Valentine’s day celebrated?

2. Who was the Valentine who lived 300 years after the death of Jesus Christ in the Roman Empire?

3. What is St.Valentine’s Day now?

4. What can you do on this day?

5. Do you personally get many Valentines?

6. Are they signed or not?

7.Are you always happy on this day?

Ann: Dear friends! We shall have a competition of proverbs and idioms about love.

Who knows any?

Pupils (Proverbs) : Love as the devil loves holy water.

Love cannot be forced.

Love conquers everything.

Love in a cottage.

Love is blind.

Love is neither bought, nor sold.

Love makes the world go round.

Love should not be all on one side.

Love will find a way.

Ann: — St. Valentine’s Day is the day when we make new friends, some of us fall in love, find their first and last love. I think it’s really a wonderful time to be loved.

Polly: It’s nice to have a friend like you.

I’ll tell you what I’m going to do.

Because you make me feel so fine.

I’ll take you for my V a l e n t i n e.

Звучит песня. Все участники выходят на сцену, поют. Влюбленные пары танцуют. Занавес.
